Enzyme Simulations and Structures

• Enzymes are catalysts made made living things
• Enzymes make and break bonds between atoms in a molecule
• Each enzyme has a unique specificity (molecule it acts on)
• Enzymes find their substrates (the chemicals they act on) in solution. Water is often a reactant in the process
• The substrate molecules move around and the enzymes do too
• Kinetics describes what happends to enzymes, substrates and products in short time spans

To view structures, CHIME application plug-in is needed. Works on Netscape 4.6 and on Internet Explorer, not on Netscape 6.2
