"San Diego, Cal. My own darling Mamie, We are still trying to get a crew. The sailors are trying to boycott us here. Of course the old crew are doing all they can to make trouble. We may get started tomorrow morning. I am not doing much these days. Helping Olive a little bit on her debate. Will go to the Library with her this P.M. Dr. Egbert, Mr. Whitney and I went swimming yesterday afternoon in one of the bathhouses here. Had lots of fun. I guess the whole crowd of us will go tonight. Mamie, I have a trade-last for you. I was showing my aunt and cousins the various pictures that I have with me, and I showed them my big picture. Olive and her girl friend, Mrs. Winnie Buser, said that you are a pretty fine looking girl and my Aunt said she has such lovely hair. I know them well enough to know that they were not merely talking either, Aunt Lizzie talks to me a good deal about married life, etc. trying to warn me a little I guess. She has had such an unhappy wedded life that | |
