Galilee Ault's voyages: |
"Yokohama My Darling Girl: I enclose a couple of pictures, Galilee + ship-wrecked party. We were getting ready to go ashore + so had more clothes on than when we escaped. From left to right are Lewie (Greek sailor), Jap cook, John (Greek sailor), Shorty (our steward), Lew Schlitz (Ship's cook), Jap. helping our steward, wants to cook his way to the states, Billy (Norwegian sailor), Dr. Martyn, Shorty
(London sailor Cockney) + Klas (Swede sailor). We had clothes lying all around drying. In the picture of the Galilee you can see just back of the Jap, where the great pieces of concrete were pushed out of line. The rope that I went aboard for the last thing that night is fastened to a bit just in front of the Jap. It looks quiet enough now, but it was rather tumultuous around there that night. I received your letter of Aug. 4 tonight. Ah. You are my own little girl all over aren't you. Your letters are always acceptable to me no matter how old they are. |
