One of the men made a dash for the L. House along the top of the breakwater with a line, and made it fast.   Light-House about 100 yrds. dist.   In playing out the line my ring came off and I thought it had gone overboard but one of the men found it lying in a coil of rope the next morning.   The line was to keep us from being washed or blown off into the sea in carrying things to the L.H.   So we began getting what stuff we could up to the L.H.   Time was short as she was slowly settling over to Port away from the breakwater and it was considered unsafe to board again.   After we had reached the L.H.   I happened to think of a logbook I had forgotten so Pearson, Dr. + I went back.   I had to go across hand over hand on a rope with my body half in water to get aboard.   I got what I went after + was trying to get into Pearson's bureau to get some films when Pearson + Dr. who were holding the rope shouted to me to come on as she was going over.   Needless to say I got out.   In making our way to and from the L.H. of course we were drenched again + again by the seas as they would wash over the breakwater.   I took my suitcase with all the records I had my tuxedo + other beach suit, a pr. of shoes, diary, all the money I had was in my jacket nearly all day.
